About Bear Paw Connections
At Bear Paw Connections, we believe that the bond between humans and animals has the power to transform lives. Our journey began in 2021 when Amy Law rescued Marge the Barg, a Percheron Draft Horse. As a therapy horse, Marge worked with numerous patients from Craig Hospital, developing connections especially with those facing their own physical or emotional hurdles. Following this, Marge also worked with clients from Mustard Seed Ranch who were learning to function with learning and developmental issues. Today, as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we bridge the gap between animal welfare and human wellness from our home base in Marshdale, Colorado.
Situated on 430 acres of pristine Colorado landscape, our central barn is a sanctuary where rescue meets restoration. We offer a "living classroom" where young people engage in the casual, hands-on science of animal husbandry, learning to care for our diverse family of chickens, pigs, donkeys, and horses. Beyond education, we are deeply committed to accessibility, providing tailored opportunities for individuals with physical and mental disabilities to interact with our animals. Within the quiet stalls of our barn and the vast beauty of our acreage, we witness daily the incredible healing ability of animals to provide comfort, confidence, and peace to those who need it most.
